4-Way Extension Lead 3

Description

This picture is posted to prove that this item can, theoretically, be done in LEGO. Indeed, it would (if built and glued correctly) be electrically safer than the donor of its metal parts. It has every safety feature that a 4-socket extension lead in the United Kingdom should have, including shutters behind the socket pin holes, individual switches and an anti-reversed-plug design. The wiring terminals are colour coded to the relevant standards and when I asked the ASTA certification body about it, they said it would probably meet BS1363. So why, you might be wondering, can we not make and sell these to you?
The answer lies in the original purpose of the unusual medium: if children saw this lead they would be inclined to play with it. And no matter how well sealed it is against children's fingers, prodded objects et al, the idea that they would be of the mind to attach other LEGO bricks to the item and/or pay more (potentially drooling or drink-spilling) attention to it than they would an average extension lead, has the ASTA folks worried, and with that they said NO.
But they said nothing against me showing it to you folks anyway. Why show you something you can't buy? Well, honesty, and to sate any latent curiosity you never had as to whether an extension lead (and, by extension (pun intended), other sockets, plugs and full sized electrical items) can be made of LEGO and sold to the public.
